The Women’s Legal Mentorship Program (WLMP) and Women in Canadian Criminal Defence (WiCCD) virtual speed mentoring event scheduled for this Fall is on hold for now.
The Women’s Legal Mentorship Program (WLMP) stands in solidarity with and extends our support to American women, non-binary and gender nonconforming individuals who have lost and/or are at risk of losing their right to access safe abortion services in the United States. The WLMP unequivocally supports and demands access to safe reproductive healthcare options, which includes abortion care, both in Canada and abroad. Every person has the right to make decisions regarding their reproductive health. No one should be deprived of their right to choice and to make decisions regarding their body.

Applications for the Women’s Legal Mentorship Program’s Spring/Summer Mentoring Cycle Now Open! We are now accepting applications from Student members who are looking for a WLMP legal mentor.
The Annual Women’s Legal Mentorship Program (WLMP) Speed Mentoring event with Justice Canada was a great success! WLMP Student Members from all across Ontario connected with legal counsel from Justice Canada practicing in various legal areas. WLMP Student Members representing number of law schools such as Windsor Law, uOttawa Faculty of Law and Queen’s Law left with important takeaways and memorable connections.

The Women’s Legal Mentorship Program (WLMP) supports the continued efforts of the Canadian government to impose strict sanctions on Russia. The WLMP calls on the Canadian government, and Western nations, to provide mass effort to minimize human suffering and end the invasion. This conflict has the potential for mass casualties and millions of refugees. Canada must offer humanitarian aid and provide an open, safe and welcoming route for all refugees seeking to flee the violence.

The Women’s Legal Mentorship Program (“WLMP”) strongly condemns the use of hate symbols, the desecration of the National War Memorial and the statue of Terry Fox, and the harassment of homelessness persons, city workers as well as volunteers at the Shepherds of Good Hope Food Bank, which took place in Ottawa and across Canada this past weekend.
