The Women’s Legal Mentorship Program is committed to mentoring equity and creating lasting change within Canada’s legal profession.
Canada’s law societies have issued numerous reports and statements on the systemic barriers facing self-identified women, non-binary, gender nonconforming, 2SLGBTQI+ and BIPOC persons within the legal profession. It’s continually studied. It’s continually discussed, but little changes.
Yet, we know mentorship can help. But the legal profession’s mentorship model is stuck in the past. If we’re going to remove systemic barriers within the legal profession, starting earlier with equity based mentoring and leadership development is vital.
A mentorship circle isn’t limiting. It’s inclusive. It’s supportive. That’s WLMP mentoring. Our mentoring platform offers a braver online legal mentoring space. Since all WLMP Mentoring Circles operate on our virtual mentoring platform, you are in control of your mentoring experience.
Our WLMP National Student Program is one-of-a kind. While our certified integrative mentorship program starts at the law school level, it goes beyond the classroom. Providing both national mentorship and networking opportunities.
WLMP’s leadership and professional development circles are focused on providing mentoring experiences focused on issues within the legal profession. All WLMP Members get access to our online webinars or events, plus, mentoring for no additional fee.
The WLMP is more than a mentoring program. It’s an inclusive community. We started as a university based pilot project and evolved into a Canada wider mentoring platform that has helped over 1,600 WLMP legal mentors and law students get mentoring.
