Application Process for WMP National Student Program Leadership Circle

  • Step 1 – Make sure your WLMP Law Student membership is up to date. Not a member? No problem, you can join for free.
  • Step 2 – Fill out the WLMP National Student Program Leadership Circle In-Take form.
  • Step 3 – Email your current Resume; and 
  • Step 4 – provide a cover letter explaining your interest in the position to the attention: Aimee Dezeure, WLMP National Student Program

The WLMP National Student Program Team Lead’s volunteer leadership commitment is on average between 3 to 7 volunteer hours a week.

Communications Team Co-Lead (1 Position)

Communications Team Co-Leadworks closely with their Communications Team Co-Lead and the WLMP National Student Leadership Circle to implement the WLMP National Student Leadership Circle Communications Plan, promote the WLMP National Student Program Events, manage key WLMP social media platforms and other communications functions as outlined in the WLMP Communications Plan.

Application Criteria for Communications Team Lead:

  • Currently enrolled in a Canadian law school;
  • A WLMP Student Member;
  • Complete the WLMP National Student Program Leader In-Take form;
  • Submit a cover letter and current resume;
  • Commitment to work as part of a team; and
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.

There is 1 opening for Communications Team Co-Lead. Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Implementing and managing the WLMP National Student Program’s communications plan;
  • Creating content for the WLMP’s social media platforms which includes interview WLMP member to produce member profiles and any partner profiles;
  • Promoting the WLMP’s virtual and hybrid events;
  • Attending WLMP National Student Program Leadership Circle Meeting;
  • Participating in WLMP National Student Program strategic planning and evaluation;
  • Develop and manage the member engagement volunteer committee;
  • Willingness to mentor communications volunteers; and
  • Working with the WLMP National Student Program Leaders Circle.

The WLMP National Student Program Team Lead’s volunteer leadership commitment is on average between 3 to 7 volunteer hours a week.

Student-Lawyer Mentoring Team Co-Lead

Student-Lawyer Mentoring (SLM) Team Co-Leadworks closely with their Co-Lead and the WLMP National Student Leadership Circle to implement the WLMP National Student Leadership strategic plan. As well as willing to engage in outreach work within the Canadian legal profession to identify legal mentors for matching with WLMP student mentees.

There is 1 Opening for Student-Lawyer Mentoring Team Co-Lead. Some of the responsibilities include:

  • WLMP Outreach and recruiting self-identifying female lawyers covering a wide range of practice areas, career stages and reflects the inclusive diversity the WLMP’s student mentees ;
  • Organizing and co-leading 2 to 3 WLMP Legal Mentoring virtual and/or hybrid events;
  • Attending WLMP National Student Program Leadership Circle Meeting;
  • Participating in WLMP National Student Program strategic planning and SLM matching evaluations;
  • Working with the WLMP National Student Program Leaders Circle.

Application Criteria for Student-Lawyer Mentoring Team Co-Lead:

  • Currently enrolled in a Canadian law school;
  • A Law Student Member of the WLMP;
  • Complete the WLMP National Student Program Leader In-Take form;
  • Submit a cover letter and current resume;
  • Commitment to work as part of a team; and
  • Strong organizational and outreach skills.

Virtual Events Team Co-Leads

Virtual Events Team Co-Leadsworks closely with the program development Lead and the WLMP National Student Leadership Circle to implement the WLMP National Student Leadership strategic plan. Ensuring all WLMP Events are implemented successfully.

There are 2 Openings for Virtual Events Team Co-Leads. Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the WLMP events that fall under specific teams or areas are being implemented and given the necessary event support;
  • Creating and maintaining the WLMP National Student Program Master Events calendar.
  • Organizing and co-leading 2 to 3 WLMP Legal Mentoring virtual and/or hybrid events including the WLMP’s Legal Leaders Breakfast™ Awards;
  • Attending WLMP National Student Program Leadership Circle Meeting;
  • Working with the WLMP National Student Program Leaders Circle.
